GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579650
Unable to change presence to hidden in gtalk account
Last modified: 2009-10-19 19:30:57 UTC
Changing the presence to hidden in gtalk makes it busy instead. I am using telepathy-gabble to connect to gtalk. A bit of debugging showed that the argument passed to empathy_presence_from_str in the file empathy-utils.c is "dnd" for both busy and hidden. ** (empathy:12027): DEBUG: empathy_presence_from_str: State str: dnd Empathy version: 2.26.1 telepathy-gabble version: 0.7.26
I can't reproduce this issue. Could you try with a recent Gabble and Empathy (2.27.x) pleasE?
Upgraded to empathy-2.27.2 and telepathy-gabble-0.7.28, still cant change my status to hidden, becomes busy instead. I want to stay online but invisible. What other info can i provide? (sorry not very experienced at this)
Hi, Something interesting happened :- Available -> Hidden Result: Busy Away -> Hidden Result:Busy Busy -> Hidden Result:Hidden BUT am still visible to others. the client in gmail also says so.
Confirming behaviour in comment 0 using telepathy-gabble 0.7.29 and empathy 2.27.3 (both from Ubuntu jaunty PPA): I set the status to "hidden", my contats see me as "busy"
XMPP has many, many different ways to become invisible. The subset that telepathy-gabble supports does not include the one used by Google Talk. So MC/Empathy/something falls back to busy.
This is still an issue. And not just with Google Talk. I can also confirm this with Yahoo accounts, where the status will stay on Available even after setting it to Hidden. Empathy version 2.28.0.1 in Ubuntu 9.10 beta
