GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579550
Do not mark messages recognized as junk Seen
Last modified: 2009-08-17 15:21:33 UTC
Junk folder not empty notification Distribution: Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) Gnome Release: 2.22.3 2008-07-09 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.22.0
Occasionally I get emails that aren't from addresses in my address book. These may be put into my Junk Folder. If I don't check this folder, there doesn't seem to be a notification, that the folder has had messages put there and is therefore not empty. If I then close Evolution both deleted and junk folders are emptied and I may miss an important message.
Oh, 2.22 is ancient today, we've 2.26.1 as a current stable. What kind of notification you would expect there? Something like unread message count increase? (I think it doesn't work in the recent stable too.)
What I'd like to see is the Junk folder highlighted in bold with the number of junk emails in brackets (like it's shown for Inbox when there are unread messages).
Created attachment 133431 [details] [review] proposed evo patch for evolution; I'm not sure whether it's really as that simple. I thought srag did this for some reason, but I do not know what reason it was, if any. (With a bit of luck, you can find this string in the binary and remove the part I deleted with spaces, and then it should start to work even for your version, if your editor will not break the binary file or there's no CRC on the binary. I'm not telling you to try that, just mentioning here "for fun" :) ).
right.. when SA/Bogo does mark a mail as junk, it should be unread. but when user does C+J, it should be marked read. That way, we make sure it would be easy for user to review any unnoticied junk mails.
Created commit a08f6f0 in master. Created commit b6e183c in gnome-2-26.
