GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579469
empathy does not receive Google Talk messages
Last modified: 2009-06-09 05:32:54 UTC
Please describe the problem: Sending messages with my Google Talk account works fine, but I do not receive any messages that contacts send me. Ubuntu 9.04 empathy 2.26.1-1ubuntu1 telepathy-gabble 0.7.22-1ubuntu3 This might be the same issue as reported at http://castrojo.wordpress.com/2009/04/07/help-me-empathyweb/ Steps to reproduce: 1. Login to Google Talk account 2. Have a contact send message 3. Receive no notification that a message has been sent, even if a chat dialog is open. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
That's probably because of http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21286
Uncheck „Use old SSL“ in Advanced Options of Account dialog. And use 5222 port. It had worked for me.
This is probably fixed. Marking as NEEDSINFO.
I already had old SSL unchecked and was using port 5222. I had previously installed packages from the Telepathy PPA <https://launchpad.net/~telepathy/+archive/ppa>, so I am currently running 0.7.26-1~ppa9.04+1. The issue is still occurring, so any advice to help debugging this would be appreciated. I tried using the instructions at http://telepathy.freedesktop.org/wiki/Debugging, but did not see anything useful in the logs.
The Telepathy bug that Guillaume mentioned points at <http://loudmouth.lighthouseapp.com/projects/17276/tickets/39-parser-stops-parser-on-certain-stanzas>. Since an issue in the Loudmouth library is not something that can be fixed by Empathy, I am resolving this bug as NOTGNOME.
