Description vasdi 2009-04-18 12:12:00 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When I resizing an icon on the Gnome desktop there is a limit of how big it can become. When I trying to resize an icon over the limit and then scale it down it starting to resize only after a delay. And when "overscaled" some more the icon starts to move nonlinearly instead of resizing.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Right click on an icon and coise to resize it
2. Scale the icon to the maximum and continue druging you mouse to the end of the screen
3. Release left mouse buton
4. Try to resize the icon again

Actual results:
Icon starts to move over the screen

Expected results:
Resizing

Does this happen every time?
Yes

saw your video and I can not reproduce what you describe.
Because my case is: when "overscaled" some more the icon starts to move nonlinearly instead of resizing. is OK for me.

I use Ubuntu Jaunty and GNOME 2.26.x

Does that still happen with a more recent version?

Does that still happen with a more recent version?(In reply to Alexandre Franke from comment #3)

Yes, it is for Mate 1.16.0-1 from Ubuntu 16.10.

The desktop part doesn't receive much work in these days, so don't expect a fix soon :(
Comment 6 António Fernandes 2018-01-02 18:51:02 UTC
Starting with version 3.28, nautilus will not handle the "files on desktop background" feature. For better alternatives, read this blog post https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2017/12/21/nautilus-desktop-plans/
