Description Rahul Sundaram 2009-04-14 21:34:09 UTC
Not sure if this needs to be done at a packaging level but this app needs to auto start on login. Since the original GNOME applet as well as Tomboy which replaced it were applets, they did that automatically and users expect that behavior with Gnote as well.

Two things can/may be done:

1/ deal with the session management

2/ make it panel applet.
Comment 2 Rahul Sundaram 2009-04-17 21:59:07 UTC
I personally prefer 1) since users can use it in other desktop environments but certainly there is much support for 2) since Tomboy is a applet and something that replaces it also being a applet would give users a similar workflow and also because there is some opposition to notes sitting on notification area.
Comment 3 Hubert Figuiere (:hub) 2009-04-17 22:01:21 UTC
the applet wouldn't be a replacement of the existing one but a complement. Like it is currently in Tomboy.

Applet are gonna be deprecated anyway for TwoPointThirty/ThreePointZero
Comment 4 Rahul Sundaram 2009-04-17 22:06:15 UTC
Ah then, go for it.

This is not an option. I don't want that by the simple fact of install gnote it starts.
Comment 7 Hubert Figuiere (:hub) 2009-04-29 00:38:54 UTC
