Description antistress 2009-04-02 21:23:21 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I'm running Ubuntu Jaunty beta and i found fantastic to be able to browse my PTP digital camera (canon Ixus 30 aka Powershot SD200) with Nautilus (it may be new since i didn't notice that before)

It seems that Nautilus uses gvfs-backends + libgphoto2-2 for that feat

However although i can perfectly copy/cut a photo from my camera to paste it on my hard drive, i can't copy/cut a photo (DSC00001.JPG) from my hard drive to paste it into my camera (/DCIM directory)

I got that popup :

Erreur lors de la copie de « DSC00001.JPG ».
Erreur lors de la copie du fichier dans gphoto2://[usb:003,002]/DCIM.
Erreur lors de l'écriture du fichier : -108 : le répertoire ou le fichier n'existe pas

which can be translated to :
Error while copying « DSC00001.JPG »
Error while copying the file in gphoto2://[usb:003,002]/DCIM.
Error while wrinting the file : -108 : the directory or the file doesn't exist

(from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/346886 )

Steps to reproduce:
try to copy/paste some photos from your hard drive to your PTP camera using Nautilus : an error occurs, whereas copying/pasting some photos from your PTP camera to your hard drive works.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?

Hmm. Does other modification things work, like creating a folder, or renaming a file?
Comment 2 antistress 2009-04-04 02:50:23 UTC
well

1°) i didn't succeeded in creating a folder. There was en empty progress bar for maybe 1 minute that was finally replaced by that popup window :

Erreur lors de la création du répertoire nouveau dossier.
Erreur lors de la création du répertoire dans gphoto2://[usb:003,004]/DCIM/122CANON.
Erreur lors de la création du répertoirec

which can be translated to :

Error while trying to create new folder directory
Error while trying to create the folder in gphoto2://[usb:003,004]/DCIM/122CANON.
Error while trying to create the folder: -1: undefined error

Then the camera shut down !

Creating a new file didn't work either. There was en empty progress bar for maybe 1 minute that finally disppeared. No popup window reporting an error. But no file was created either

2°) Whereas i've succeeded in renaming a picture (it's slow but it works)

3°) To complete my first message :
While trying to copy/paste a file from my hard drive to my PTP camera, i 1st got an empty progress bar which after maybe 1/2 a minute started to fill showing 64 kio/925,9 Kio. Then after maybe another 1/2 minute the progress bar was totally filled 925,9 Kio/925,9 Kio - o second left (23,1 Kio/s) but the error message popup window described above showed up and no file were pasted

No idea then, I'll leave this to the gphoto backend people.
