Description Adam J Richardson 2009-04-02 13:08:18 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I searched but couldn't find this, apologies if it's been reported already.

This corresponds to bug 295834 on Launchpad (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer0.10/+bug/295834). I'm using Rhythmbox as my audio file player.

Sebastien Bacher claims that this is a gstreamer bug. I don't get skipping in the same track as the original reporter (Malachi) does, but gstreamer will randomly end playback of a 16kbps file, which is maddening when listening to podcasts.

Sebastien said someone experiencing the bug should report it upstream, so here is my bug report.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download a 16kbps MP3 file (for instance, http://media.grc.com/sn/sn-169-lq.mp3).
2. Play file in gstreamer-enabled player of choice (Rhythmbox in my case).

Actual results:
The MP3 ends prematurely and goes to the next file in the playlist. If you reload the MP3 file and go back to just before it skipped, it will play normally past the previous skip location, until it randomly decides to skip again.

Expected results:
The MP3 file plays to the end.

Does this happen every time?
No.

Other information:
I need to correct my version info. I'm using Gnome v2.24.1 (which I didn't select because it's not in the list). I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid). My gstreamer versions (sorry, don't know which package I should report):
