Description Alessio Treglia 2009-03-30 20:23:25 UTC
(Forwarded bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351893)

FAT is presented as being only one option in gnome-format.

This should present FAT16 and FAT32, and perhaps indicate the file size limitations.

NTFS may be better suited for bigger file operations as indicated in LP: #351887.

Thanks for your bug report.

However, could you please explain, why a user should have the option of choosing FAT16 over FAT32 (or vice versa)? I don't see any sense in this, as both have clear size restrictions, as you mention yourself. Why should we make the user responsible to make this decission if the software can decide it?

Closing this for now, as invalid, because the goal of gnome-format is to be as easily to use as possible, not to provide every option around. Please reopen if you have a concrete use-case.

That was the original submitter's opinion, IMHO this bug could be considered as a duplicate of #577356
