This bug is the same as bug 357468 which happened to the smb gvfs plugin and that has been fixed in gvfs : 
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357468#c7

So the same fix would probably need to be included in gphoto gvfs plugin so it also gets fixed.

The fix in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357468#c7 isn't an smb specific fix (it doesn't actually touch the smb backend).

So dup'ing and reopening original.
