GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 573699
audio/x-gst-fourcc-QDMC audio file cannot be played
Last modified: 2009-03-02 16:44:42 UTC
Please describe the problem: I am running totem on Mandriva 2009.0 and have a file http://music.case.edu/duffin/JustTuning/SoundFiles/TallisJust.mov that does not play. I get the error Missing Plugin: gstreamer|0.10|totem|audi/x-gst-fourcc-QDMC decoder mplayer, with the win32-codecs package installed, does play this file. Steps to reproduce: 1. totem http://music.case.edu/duffin/JustTuning/SoundFiles/TallisJust.mov 2. 3. Actual results: I get an error message and nothing is played. (see above error message) Expected results: Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
There are no open-source decoders available for QDMC. You'll have to install pitfdll (which uses the win32 binary codecs)... if you can find it for your distro.
I could reproduce this, pitfdll did not help.
With latest gst-plugins-good (and for at least a release or two), that codec is now detected as: audio/x-qdm (QDesign Music (QDM)). And if pitfdll can't do it either... then I guess there's no option currently.
I have only tested this on 2009.0 with gst-plugins-good 0.10.10, I'll test later with a current GStreamer.
No, pitfdll cannot play that one.
