Description Sebastien Bacher 2009-02-26 09:01:28 UTC
the bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331592

"In detail view the field is not shown
In list view the field is empty.
In the edit window the "Mobile Phone" field has a value.

To show the field and its value I have to save the contact again.

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23132076/card.vcf
card.vcf (181 bytes, text/x-vcard)

Attached is a .vcf (text) file containing one entry. It can be imported into evolution to test this. It does not seem to be a problem with the file format, but evolution.

Exporting a contact from Evo then importing it back also shows this bug."

import of mobile phones without "OTHER" location

I think the problem is the default addition of OTHER as a location if no location (WORK/HOME) is specified. For mobile phones, no location is necessary (though one could argue, that some peoble own two mobile phones...).

The patch seems to fix it, by not adding OTHER for mobile phones (also VOICE seems not necessary, as I'm not aware of fax receiving mobiles ;) ).

I agree, this can fix it, but forces one to either edit all contacts or reimport them. Are we able to fix this in a view too?
Comment 3 André Klapper 2021-05-19 11:55:48 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new bug report ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
