Description james 2009-02-16 15:22:58 UTC
When importing a compilation from CD, no album artist is set. This results in a number of "Album" icons being created, one for each track.

I believe the data is available, since the tags contain "MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMARTISTID="

Also, when importing from Rhythmbox, the tags are incompatible, since Rhythmbox stores the Album Artist in "ARTISTSORT=", not "ALBUMARTIST="... I imagine it would ease things if ARTISTSORT was used as a fallback if no other tag is present.

Please file separate bugs separately in the future (CD importing vs RB). The CD importing one has been fixed, I believe, so no need to split it off now.

So is your issue with within Banshee using Media -> Import -> Rhythmbox not bringing over your AlbumArtist info, or are you just importing the files that RB wrote the ARTISTSORT= info to (via Media -> Import -> Local Folder)?
