Description Jean-Francois Lepage 2009-02-15 19:46:32 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When I click Rescan Music Library, it starts scanning for medias but it will keep on working indefinitely...and if I click on the "X" to close it, it will simply not dissapear. It will show the popup askig if I want to stop importing or resume and if I click stop it just continues searching.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Banshee
2. Click Tools...Rescan Music Library
3. Click on the "X" to stop the scan, say stop in the popup

Actual results:
it will keep on scanning and not import anything

Expected results:
I would expect the scan to stop when it's done!

Does this happen every time?
yes!

Coudl you follow the instructions at http://banshee-project.org/contribute/file-bugs/ to get more information about this problem ?

In particular, run the "kill ..." command when banshee is stuck, and post the log file here.

Hhm, according to the log, banshee doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Did you run the "kill..." command before or after you tried to cancel the rescan ?
Try both, but restart banshee between the two.
Comment 4 Mike Rooney 2009-06-03 21:31:35 UTC
This seems to happen to me too, using 1.5 from git updated to today. Stopping the scan still uses CPU 60-80% and leaks memory indefinitely; it got up to 725MB before I killed it.

Could the problem be that it is doing two re-scans? I click re-scan, and the thing slides up at the bottom and then slides down almost right after. So I click re-scan again, this time it stays up, then I tell it to stop. So maybe the other is still happening in the background?

Anyway, my log is attached.

No clue for now, sorry.

Does this still happen with Banshee 1.4.3 or 1.5.0 ?

Bertrand, Mike mentioned 1.5 on comment#4.
