GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 571279
Cannot access emails in one folder
Last modified: 2010-05-21 22:11:28 UTC
Please describe the problem: I have a particular folder that I use to store emails from a mailing list that has lots of email (possibly >30k), and today I find myself unable to see any email in this folder. It shows 7 unread messages, but when I click on the folder I see "7 unread, 0 total". Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to this folder Actual results: No emails shown in the message list Expected results: Be able to see a list of all emails in this folder Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
can you attach a screenshot here? (please make sure that no confidential data is displayed, e.g. email addresses)
Could be the 2 GB barrier.

Could be the 2GB barrier as this folder has/had a *lot* of emails. How would I figure that out, and what can I do to resolve it?
Doesn't look like it's a 2GB limit: mthaddon@hurlyburly:~/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox.sbd/Canonical.sbd$ ls -lh Launchpad-error-reports* -rw------- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 670M 2009-02-11 23:31 Launchpad-error-reports -rw-r--r-- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 177 2009-02-12 00:13 Launchpad-error-reports.cmeta -rw------- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 31M 2008-10-07 10:32 Launchpad-error-reports.ev-summary -rw------- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 3.5M 2008-10-07 10:32 Launchpad-error-reports.ev-summary-meta -rw------- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 0 2008-04-09 08:11 Launchpad-error-reports.ibex.index -rw------- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 8 2008-04-09 08:11 Launchpad-error-reports.ibex.index.data -rw-r--r-- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 13 2007-07-20 08:37 Launchpad-error-reports.tmp.cmeta -rw------- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 7.0K 2007-07-20 08:38 Launchpad-error-reports.tmp.ibex.index -rw------- 1 mthaddon mthaddon 8 2007-07-20 08:40 Launchpad-error-reports.tmp.ibex.index.data
Did you try to remove folder.db so that evolution can regenerate it ? Could be issue due to disk summary migration. This version is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. The current stable GNOME and Evolution version is 2.30. Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 2.28 or 2.30 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version" field? Thanks a lot. Again thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed for the version you originally used here. Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE in 6 weeks.
