Description Gil Forcada 2009-01-28 08:20:40 UTC
I set up correctly the mailing list to accept mails from gnomeweb at Januray 10th.

From that day until today (January 28) we received 154 mails in the mailing list, that's roughly 9 mails per day.

Moreover, I received 102 personal mails from gnomeweb from translations I was concerned, that's roughly 6 mails per day.

In general I received 256 emails (14 per day). That's a lot of mails :)

Maybe instead of sending emails as soon as a action is performed a batch mail per day/per week (configurable to each user/team?) would be really better.

If you take a week off and come back to your laptop and see more than 60 emails it's not likely you will be reading all if all are notifications.

Possibly related to bug 567374 as to configure who wants to receive mails.

To summarize:

- Send mails batched in a daily or weekly fashion with all actions performed in your team (to mailing lists) and the translations you are concerned (to each user).
- Make this option configurable per user and per team.
- And to also fix bug 567374 allow to not receive mails and to configure who to send the mails, the mailing list or each individual separately.

Note: Added to Vertimus component, not sure which component is responsible to send the mails. Feel free to change it :)

Sounds good?

Also, when sending mails to individuals it would make sense to filter out the one who did the action, for sure he/she knows what she/he has done :)

Fwiw, I do want to receive these mails for my personal archives.

Then, just made it configurable in the user preferences :)

Don't know how much effort requires ... Claude?

With the current improvements that you can select to sent a mail or not I think that this issue can really be resolved and fixed (at least for me :)
