Could you be more specific why this might be a GStreamer bug?

There was a pop up any time I tried to make my way around the issue, which indicated that there is a bug in GStreamer that doesn't allow the playback. Also the website link attached to the error report did suggest that there is something wrong with GStreamer.
Unforetunately, I don't have a further evidence concerning this. I am sorry but I relatively new to Ubuntu.

This is a problem with the configured sound output. go to System => Preferences => Sound and try other outputs for Music/Movie playback.

(The bug here is that GStreamer did not post a decent error message and you get the generic one instead. This has been fixed ages ago though, you might want to upgrade ubuntu to a newer version to get this fixed).
