Description Juha Siltala 2009-01-14 09:36:40 UTC
If e-d-s were aware of contacts' IM and SIP presence, that would open up great possibilities for future UI work. Evolution addressbook would be able to show the presence of your contacts and thus allow you to choose the best method for contacting someone. If you see that your contact is online on Jabber, you would have an option to send an instant message. If not, you could email them.

Ultimately, making e-d-s telepathic would make a desktop-wide unified "people browser" possible. The Empathy roster might have an option to show all contacts (in a "people browser" window), and the people browser would have options to send IM, make a VoIP call or send email.

I think this exists now, but it's Folks, not e-d-s.
