Bug/request reported on Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/312920

"When i use the Oblivion theme gedit should use the same dark grey background f.e. with white text in the File browser plugin so that the look'n'feel works better together within the plugin and the regular edit window."
Comment 1 Paolo Borelli 2009-01-02 10:52:45 UTC
Theming all gtk widgets completely falls out of the scope of our color schemes, they are just meant to define the colors used for syntax highlighting.
If you want a dark background on all text fields choose a gtk theme with such colors and, if you want, select a color scheme that doesn't set the backround color so that also the text area of gedit uses the color specified by the gtk theme
