GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 565983
Song skips when playing from network drive
Last modified: 2010-03-14 17:02:37 UTC
Please describe the problem: When pausing or stopping a song, located on a smb share and then resuming it a short while after, rhythmbox skips the current + 1 to 5 songs and shows the "missing" icon for those. From the looks of it I would assume a timeout problem somewhere. The Songs are located on a samba fileshare. Import gives the option to use network drives (using gvfs-smb) The problem is reproduceable, however it occures only if a certain amount of time (I would say 15 to 30 Minutes) have passed in stop or pause state. On resuming the skip happens. I think gvfs-smb closes the connection to the server but rhythmbox has the file still open. On resuming gvfs-smb has to reestablish the connection to the file share but rhythmbox does not wait, instead thinks somehow that the file is still open, accesses it, fails and marks it "missing" or inaccessable therefore, so rhythmbox continues to the next and next and next until the connection is back up and then continues there. Steps to reproduce: Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information: Originally reported on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/289214
Do you also get similar behaviour in totem or other GStreamer applications? Output from 'rhythmbox -D player' would be helpful.
Sorry for not responding earlier... Now on jaunty. Still with same problem. >> Do you also get similar behaviour in totem or other GStreamer applications? No, happens only with rhythmbox so far. >> Output from 'rhythmbox -D player' would be helpful. Will do the debug soon
