Description Leonardo Ferreira Fontenelle 2008-12-14 13:19:55 UTC
The NetworkManager module was split in some network-manager-* modules, but the gnome-extras.xml file doesn't reflect this.
Comment 1 Claude Paroz 2008-12-14 19:42:00 UTC
Dan (added as CC), could you please briefly explain us how the new modules layout relates to the old layout (maybe in a mail to gnome-i18n)?
Comment 2 Dan Williams 2008-12-15 15:13:39 UTC
Ugh; guess I missed that one while splitting; I tried but couldn't find anything NM related in an SVN checkout of damned-lies (if that's what you're referring to).

The old NM repo used to have:

vpn-daemons/pptp
vpn-daemons/openvpn
vpn-daemons/vpnc

Each of these directories was split out into their own separate SVN repo. Since they were always self-contained, and never touched as part of the NM build process (but had separate tarballs and configure scripts and translations), they were essentially their own repos inside the master NM repo anyway.

I checked out damned-lies from SVN, but the only references to NetworkManager are in branches/djamnedlies (only translations in po/ or locale/fr/) and in tags/damned_lies_1_0/gnome-modules.xml.in. There was nothing in trunk indicating that there was nothing that I could update myself. Can't commit to a tag since that's not what tags are for. Where is gnome-extras.xml kept? Can I update it for you?
Comment 3 Claude Paroz 2008-12-15 16:45:51 UTC
Thanks for the explanation. Don't look for NM references in damned-lies checkout. You won't find anything, because the data is now in a database. I'll care for the changes myself.
What is still not clear for me is about strings which were directly under the old Network-Manager module. Where are they now?
Comment 4 Dan Williams 2008-12-15 17:56:58 UTC

They are now in the NM git repos on freedesktop. However, they aren't visible in UIs (nor should they be) and there weren't that many of them anyway. So I decided that they could be updated less frequently, and with a more manual process, than those strings in user-facing apps like the VPN daemons and the applet itself.
Comment 5 Claude Paroz 2008-12-15 18:34:48 UTC
OK, I will reference NM from the freedesktop release set. But I cannot find anything on http://cgit.freedesktop.org/. Could you point me to the repo on freedesktop.org?

Hi, Claude, I googled and found this address:

git://git.freedesktop.org/git/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.git

This address is cited in this email:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/networkmanager-list/2008-December/msg00088.html

As you probably know, there's a new network-manager-* module in the GNOME SVN:
http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/network-manager-openconnect/
Comment 8 Claude Paroz 2008-12-23 21:26:49 UTC
Thanks for the pointer, but it's still a little strange that there isn't any Web interface to the repo, isn't it?
Comment 9 Dan Williams 2009-01-06 15:12:31 UTC
Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how to get the web interface, since everything on git.fdo seems to be set up correctly with git-daemon-export-ok. Still working on getting the web interface.
Comment 10 Claude Paroz 2009-01-10 17:13:40 UTC
It seems it is fixed now : http://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/
