GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 564447
Totem dosn't display 16:9 correct on a 16:10 screen
Last modified: 2010-02-25 11:02:13 UTC
Please describe the problem: I own a 16:10 TFT display and I use a screen resolution on 1680 x 1050 pixels (16:10). When I want to see a 16:9 movie, or a DVD in widescreen, then Totem won't display the 16:9 / widescreen correctly. The movie looks like it is width. But if you play the same movie with the VLC Player it will look corectly. The problem won't be fixed by using the display in 16:9 option in Totem! Watching a DVD with Totem is painful with a 16:10 TFT. Steps to reproduce: 1. Use a 16:10 resolution (1680 x 1050 pixels) 2. Open a movie in 16:9 for example 3. Make a screenshot 4. Open the same movie with the VLC Player 5. Make a 2nd screenshot 6. Compare the screenshots 7. They have the same height, but the Totem will have the wrong width (more than wanted) Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: The same problem comes with mplayer, but the VLC Player show the correct 16:9 on a 16:10 screen! OS I use: Ubuntu 8.10 (64bit)
Which backend are you using? Could you please make the file to reproduce the problem available?
Hm, I try to use in Totem the "Help / Submit bug" (Hilfe / Fehler melden) in the Menu, but after collecting all the information I find my self in "launchpad.net". There is a similar bug reported by an other user and they said, that the bug must be reported here (bugzilla.gonme.org). Where can I find this file? So I can upload it here. Some more Information: Im using Ubuntu 8.10 (64bit) Kernel Linux 2.6.27-9-generic Gnome 2.24.1 3,6 GB Ram Motherboard GA-MA78GM-S2H AMD Dual Core 4850e ATI Radion HD 3200 (256 MB Ram) OpenGL Version 2.1.8087 But I think it is a generally problem with Ubuntu 8.10 + Totem + the screen resolution 1680 x 1050 (16:10).
Claus, launchpad is perfectly fine :) Bastien, could you give an advise on how to obtain the used backend?
