GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 563877
evince doesn't print embeded png-picture in pdf-files
Last modified: 2008-12-10 07:26:03 UTC
Please describe the problem: If I try to print a pdf that I have created with OpenOffice the picture (PNG-format) doesn't get printed. You also doesn't see the picture in the Print Preview. Steps to reproduce: 1. open PDF with evince 2. file → Print 3. select printer (If you select 'Print to File' the preview works) 4. push Print Preview 5. you shouldn't see the graph. Actual results: You don't see the graph (sample pdf) and it also doesn't get printed. Expected results: Evince should print the pdf without any problems. Does this happen every time? That happens every time. Other information: This is a regression, it worked with evince 2.22, tested in ubuntu 8.04 (hardy)
Created attachment 124287 [details] This is a pdf created with OpenOffice. It demonstrads the problem.
I tried that one using evince trunk, poppler and cairo master. Printing to ps created a file which gs could render. Printing to pdf did not. Xpdf was able to render the created pdf, but w/o the image (confirming the report). Gs was also unable to render the original pdf. In both cases it dies with a /rangecheck error. Evince’s ps output has one fallback image. Its pdf output as three: the first is blank, the second is an alpha mask of the graph and the third is an RGB of the graph. I suspect the bug is related to that. The original pdf only has two fallback images: the RGB and the alpha mask. Notice that the order of the images is reversed compared to the ouput pdf, FWIW.
