Description Roman Polach 2008-12-04 19:19:05 UTC
As filled in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer0.10/+bug/299182

In Ubuntu Intrepid:
Although dvd is playing smoothly with "mplayer dvd://",
in totem-gstreamer it has about 1 frame per second, which is not usable.

Steps to reproduce:
   a) Insert a DVD into drive. Dialog window appears with question for action. I have chosen "Open Movie Player" (default)
   b) Totem is automatically open. Some intro is played. (Note: this intro is played smoothly.)
   c) After intro there was DVD menu displayed. There I chose to play the film.
   d) The film started to play then...

Behaviour expected:
I expect to play the film smoothly... because both intro in Totem and main film in mplayer is played smoothly.

Behaviour encountered:
The film is not played smoothly, but image is refreshed once per second approximately. Audio is better but also with small pauses once per several seconds. System monitor shows 100% cpu used

Notes:
intro: video 720 x 576, 25 fps, audio 192 kbps, 48000 Hz
main film: video 720 x 576, 25 fps, audio 448 kbps, 48000 Hz

Versions:
Ubuntu 8.10
Gnome 2.24.1
Ubuntu packages: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg 0.10.5-1, gstreamer-x 0.10.21-3, gstreamer-plugins-good 0.10.10.4-1ubuntu1, gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mpegdemux 0.10.15-1, gstreamer0.10-pitfdll 0.9.1.1+cvs20080215-1, gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad 0.10.8-1, gstreamer0.10-plugins-base 0.10.21-3, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly 0.10.9-1ubuntu0.1, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse 0.10.7-2,

Does this still happen with the latest releases? Does it happen with every DVD or only specific DVDs?
