Description Nick Jenkins 2008-11-18 04:14:09 UTC
Steps to illustrate request:
* Open Evolution 2.22
* Open the "memos" section.
* Show one or more memo lists, preferably so that there are more than 100 memos showing.
* Sort the memos in alphabetical order (by clicking on the summary header), so that the "summary" field shows a downwards pointing triangle.
* Click on one memo to make it active (e.g. pick a memo starting with the letter "a"). The memo's color will change to be slightly lighter or darker (it's a very subtle color change) when it is selected.
* Press a keyboard letter (e.g. "m").

What currently happens:
* Nothing.

What would ideally happen:
* The first memo starting with the letter "m" would become active.
* The list of memos would scroll to show this active memo.

This only happens when clicking in the (useless) first column.
If clicking at any of the fields in the list it will edit the field.

We do not support type-ahead search in any lists. WONTFIX.

Fair enough, I can accept that. I agree UI consistency is a worthy goal.

It was something that I missed coming from Outlook, so if you get similar requests, that's probably what's causing it. My memory of Outlook is quite hazy now, but in the older version I was using, I only recall it doing the type-ahead search in memos, and _possibly_ only for the first letter (so it was fairly limited).
