Description Nate 2008-11-18 02:35:18 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Bug originally reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/299214

Attempting to open some .PSD files results in this error:

...failed: Error loading PSD file: Too many channels in layer: 1279

This appears to be a regression as the problem occurs in GIMP 2.6.1, GNOME 2.24.1 in Ubuntu 8.10, but file can be opened successfully in GIMP 2.4.6, GNOME 2.22.3 in Ubuntu 8.04.1.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download the .PSD file available here: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19739972/PSD-MOODS.psd
2. Right click, select "Open with GIMP Image Editor"

Actual results:
GIMP opens successfully, and you are immediately presented the error box. A screenshot is available here: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19744476/screenshot_01.png

Expected results:
I would expect the .PSD file to open successfully.

Does this happen every time?

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

The number 1279 suggest that this is a duplicate of bug 559239 even though this is for layers and bug 559239 is for channels.

Um both are regarding channels, obviously a duplicate then.
