Description F Wolff 2008-11-08 07:34:11 UTC
The copyright string "Copyright © 2003-2004 Germán Poo Caamaño" is untranslatable (it is not in the POT file).
Comment 1 Diego Escalante Urrelo (not reading bugmail) 2008-11-27 01:44:52 UTC
Why should it? other modules don't. Which languages would benefit from this string being available for translation?

Comment 2 Claude Paroz 2008-11-27 13:20:56 UTC
Some modules do:

data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/nautilus.po:msgid "Copyright © 1999-2008 The Nautilus authors"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gnome-games.po:msgid "Copyright 2005-2008 Robert Ancell (and contributors)"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/totem.po:msgid "Copyright:"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/libgnomeui-2.0.po:msgid "Copyright string"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/libgnomeui-2.0.po:msgid "Copyright information for the program"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/tomboy.po:msgid "Copyright:"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gdm.po:msgid "Copyright:"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/tracker.po:msgid "Copyright © 2005-2008 The Tracker authors"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gnome-applets-2.0.po:msgid "Copyright (c) Sergey V. Udaltsov 1999-2004"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/rhythmbox.po:msgid "Copyright:"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/eog.po:msgid "<b>Copyright:</b>"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/transmission.po:msgid "Copyright 2005-2008 The Transmission Project"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/bacula.po:msgid "Copyright (c) 2000 - 2004, Kern Sibbald and John Walker"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/f-spot.po:msgid "Copyright:"
data/fr/LC_MESSAGES/libbonoboui-2.0.po:msgid "Copyright 2001, The GNOME Foundation"

I'm returning the question: why should the word "copyright" not be translated? Maybe RTL languages might want to inverse the word order also.
Comment 3 F Wolff 2008-11-28 07:34:57 UTC
In my language, and I'm sure all other languages, the word "copyright" is translated, and might even have other conventions for reordering things. Some languages don't use the same number system as English, and would have to change it to Indic, Khmer, or some other number system for the years. As Claude indicated, several modules already contain this.
