Description P 2008-11-01 15:19:39 UTC
The corner target for window resizing needs to be more consistent. For example in Firefox, which has an extra resize handle, try the following.

Start with the mouse pointer to the upper-left of the bottom-right corner and move very slow diagonally towards the corner. When I do this my mouse pointer typically goes through the following series of transformations:

1) Normal pointer
2) Diagonal resize
3) Normal
6) Diagonal resize
7) Back to normal (very quickly)

The process of making the pointer change to the one for diagonal resizing is ugly and frustrating.

The ideal situation, however, would be some sort of transparent circle of about 30 pixels in diameter centered very close to the window corner, which guarantees diagonal resizing when inside it. Even some of the space OUTSIDE the window should provide a resizing opportunity.

I've noticed that the situation is even worse with compiz enabled. Does the compiz team need to fix the problem independently?

This bug was reported against a version which is not supported any more. Developers are no longer working on this version so there will not be any bug fixes for it.
Can you please check again if the issue you reported here still happens in a recent version of GNOME and update this report by adding a comment and adjusting the 'Version' field?

Again thank you for reporting this and sorry that it could not be fixed for the version you originally used here.

Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE after 6 weeks.
