Description Albert Zeyer 2008-10-30 21:36:31 UTC
I did nothing specific, was just moving the mouse.

Evolution stopped responding and just freezed.

I attached GDB to the process and get this backtrace:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=170326

Thanks for the report. Even it happened in Evolution, it's waiting in X, see

Thread 1 (Thread 0xb5812ad0 (LWP 10403))

  • #0 __kernel_vsyscall
  • #1 *__GI___poll
    at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c line 87
  • #2 _XWaitForReadable
    at XlibInt.c line 507

Only second thread is trying to flush its changes go GtkHTML, while the first wants to draw table's header. I've no idea what could go wrong in X. Neither I'm sure how much related to evolution.

Can you reproduce it reliably?
Comment 2 Albert Zeyer 2008-12-11 20:50:16 UTC
Evolution always hangs once in a while, often after long runtimes (like 10 hours or so). No other application does this and Evolution has always done it and I have seen it also on other PCs.

I am not sure if the stack is always the same. I will try to get a backtrace also next time and post it here.

This version is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates.
The current stable GNOME and Evolution version is 2.26.

Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 2.24
or 2.26 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version"
field? Thanks a lot.

Again thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed
for the version you originally used here.

Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE in 6 weeks.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug; however, closing due to lack of
response of the reporter, sorry. if you still see this issue with a current
release of evolution (2.26.3 or 2.28.x or later), please reopen. thanks in advance.
