Description Laurent Bigonville 2008-10-25 22:22:54 UTC
This bugreport is coming from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=492793

"It took me a long time to figure out how to create a SIP account using
this package, because I didn't realize that the "Username" field must be
a URI with the "sip:" scheme, and the only feedback I got was a generic
"Network error". (I'm using the "empathy" UI, if that makes a
difference.)

Three wishlist requests come to mind to help future users:

- Document the allowed forms of the username field somewhere.
- Provide meaningful error messages if the username couldn't be parsed.
- Perhaps prepend "sip:" to the username if it isn't already present."
Comment 1 Xavier Claessens 2008-10-26 07:59:20 UTC
sip: is not required. I can connect my ekiga account just by typing "user@ekiga.org" as username. Maybe some servers does not accept that format...
Comment 2 Guillaume Desmottes 2009-06-10 12:35:09 UTC
Indeed, I don't use sip: either with my ekiga.org or voipbuster account.
Which server was used?
