Description Greg 2008-10-16 13:51:10 UTC
It would be useful, if GIMP could extract all layers to single images in one step.
Comment 1 Martin Nordholts 2008-10-16 17:42:00 UTC
Hi and thanks for the enhancement request! Yes that would be nice. I don't think it is worth to do this as an extension to the current quite cumbersome save/export system, but let's keep this open as a reminder of that the new save/export system should have this feature.
Comment 2 Michael Natterer 2008-10-16 20:39:55 UTC
I'm not quite sure if that is what the reporter means. Greg, do you want
to export the layers to files of do you want to have a script that creates
open images for all of them?
Comment 3 Greg 2008-10-16 22:23:46 UTC
The first, the ability export all layers to files.

Btw: Thanks for your response!
Comment 4 Sven Neumann 2008-10-17 07:14:03 UTC
This can and should be implemented as a script. So if you need this functionality, then please write such a script. Then you can open a bug report and attach it here for inclusion in the GIMP source tree. It would probably be a good idea to discuss the details beforehand on the gimp-developer list. For a bug report we need at least a full specification of the requested feature.
Comment 5 Greg 2008-10-17 08:57:34 UTC
Here is such a script (not written by me):

"Then you can open a bug report

a good idea to discuss the details beforehand on the gimp-developer list. For a
bug report we need at least a full specification of the requested feature."

I hope it is also ok simply to reopen this request.
Comment 6 Sven Neumann 2008-10-17 16:50:14 UTC
If there's such a script already, there is no point in keeping a bug report for it.
Comment 7 Greg 2008-10-17 17:10:33 UTC
Why not?

Couldn't this report be handled as a request for an inclusion?
Or is this the wrong place for it?
Comment 8 Martin Nordholts 2008-10-17 18:35:10 UTC
IMO it is not worth to maintain this in the GIMP source tree, and as I said this should simply be designed as an integral feature of the new save as/export system whenever such a system will be designed.
