GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 554611
does not print some pdf correctly
Last modified: 2008-10-04 16:22:25 UTC
the bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/276615 "Binary package hint: evince If I print some PDF files using Evince, only some text gets printed (only mathematical formulas). However, I tried using xpdf to "print" the PDF to a PostScript file, which I then opened in Evince and printed. Lo and behold, it printed just fine. Also, when it fails to properly print a PDF, there is a pause of several seconds before the job shows up in the print queue. At some point, the printer status changes from "Idle" to a really long command line involving pstopdf. I have not tried using a different program to print. The files that fail to print all text are generated by LyX (probably involving pdflatex), and a file that printed all the text but had a blurry second page was generated by Firefox. I will attach the LyX-generated PDF and the PS file generated from it. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18099878/Chapter2.pdf * Chapter2.pdf (51.3 KiB, application/pdf)"
Using poppler 0.8.7 and evince 2.24 the example printed to a pdf using the print to file dialog gives a several megabytes example, that might be what makes pstopdf work for a while for the submitter
