Go to page five. There is a picture of a man. This is supposed to be in the background, with text flowing around the contour of the man.

Instead, the image covers the text and makes it unreadable.

Confirmed with evince 2.24/GNOME 2.24.

I can also confirm that xpdf does not have the issue (xpdf displays it correctly) and another reporter stated that Okular also does not have the issue.

It's a known poppler issue. See bug https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7856
