GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 553291
[Filter Results] got no results after filtering for an existing title
Last modified: 2008-10-21 18:18:20 UTC
Please describe the problem: its not possible to fast filter for a specific titel, singer or any information Steps to reproduce: 1. you should have some imported songs in the browser 2. in the filter area try to search for any of these titles (for example: coldplay, what if...etc) see the following screenshots: 1- http://lh6.ggpht.com/BugShooter.QA/SNfZKPIm_kI/AAAAAAAAABc/oE52HB-v7Cw/Step1.jpg 2- http://lh3.ggpht.com/BugShooter.QA/SNfZKaiKf3I/AAAAAAAAABk/XNc36ArYnkQ/Step2.jpg Actual results: banshee is not able to find any results, most of the time no results found, although there are titles which should be found. Expected results: i should be able to get a result for the searched word if there is a suitable existing title Does this happen every time? yes, with some titles its happens always, with other is working fine, but most of the time its not working Other information:
I see you were case specific here (which shouldn't be necessary in general, by the way); does it work if you search for "clocks" (lowercase c)?
the bug is also reproducible with "clocks" with lowercase c and "CLOCKS", and not only for this title, for most other titles, and the filtering is not woring at all for the artist name, what ever which artist i search for. just for info i tried the same issue with an older Banshee version (0.13.2) and the filter working fine without problems on the older version.

Hrm, is there any output if you run banshee-1 --debug from the terminal and try searching again? If not, can you attach your ~/.config/banshee-1/banshee.db file here so I can see what's wrong with it? (Alternatively you could e-mail it to me directly).

I reported the duplicate bug, I'm sorry I couldn't find this bug before it. But here's the output of banshee-1 --debug: ** Running Mono with --debug ** [Debug 14:00:33.904] NDesk.DBus.Bus.Session.RequestName ('org.bansheeproject.Banshee') => PrimaryOwner [Info 14:00:33.971] Running Banshee 1.2.1 [Debug 14:00:42.828] Core service started (DBusServiceManager, 0.010271s) [Debug 14:00:42.999] Core service started (DBusCommandService, 0.164432s) [Debug 14:00:43.706] Opened SQLite connection to /home/umang/.config/banshee-1/banshee.db [Debug 14:00:43.708] Core service started (DbConnection, 0.707637s) [Debug 14:00:43.787] Database version 17 is up to date [Debug 14:00:43.880] Core service started (PreferenceService, 0.085521s) [Debug 14:00:43.896] Core service started (SourceManager, 0.007894s) [Debug 14:00:45.421] Core service started (MediaProfileManager, 1.523259s) [Debug 14:00:45.442] Core service started (PlayerEngine, 0.020047s) [Debug 14:00:45.490] Configuration client extension loaded (Banshee.GnomeBackend.GConfConfigurationClient) [Debug 14:00:45.864] IO provider extension loaded (Banshee.IO.Unix.Provider) [Debug 14:00:46.040] Core service started (TranscoderService, 0.199174s) [Debug 14:00:46.060] Core service started (PlaybackController, 0.017772s) [Debug 14:00:46.063] Core service started (ImportSourceManager, 0.002311s) [Debug 14:00:46.158] Core service started (LibraryImportManager, 0.09367s) [Debug 14:00:46.164] Core service started (UserJobManager, 0.0044s) [Debug 14:00:46.307] Core service started (HardwareManager, 0.142608s) [Debug 14:00:46.490] Adding icon theme search path: /usr/share/banshee-1/icons [Debug 14:00:46.497] Core service started (GtkElementsService, 0.187558s) [Debug 14:00:46.941] Core service started (InterfaceActionService, 0.443353s) [Debug 14:00:46.958] Album artwork path set to /home/umang/.cache/album-art [Debug 14:00:46.971] Core service started (ArtworkManager, 0.005566s) [Debug 14:00:50.324] Core service started (NereidPlayerInterface, 3.352433s) [Debug 14:00:50.395] Using GNOME 2.22 API for Multimedia Keys [Debug 14:00:50.403] Extension service started (MultimediaKeysService, 0.071479s) [Debug 14:00:50.571] Extension service started (BookmarksService, 0.153815s) [Debug 14:00:50.960] Extension service started (AudioCdService, 0.38794s) [Debug 14:00:51.555] Extension service started (NotificationAreaService, 0.589505s) [Debug 14:00:51.723] Extension service started (GnomeService, 0.12876s) [Debug 14:00:52.855] GStreamer pipeline does not run: audioconvert ! lame mode=4 bitrate=128 ! id3v2mux [Debug 14:00:52.875] GStreamer pipeline does not run: audioconvert ! xingenc bitrate=128 ! id3v2mux [Debug 14:00:53.206] GStreamer pipeline does not run: audioconvert ! fluwmaenc bitrate=64000 vbr=false ! fluasfmux [Debug 14:00:53.209] Extension service started (GStreamerCoreService, 1.484466s) [Debug 14:00:53.251] (libbanshee:player) Using built-in equalizer element [Debug 14:00:53.361] Player state change: NotReady -> Ready [Debug 14:00:53.477] Player state change: Ready -> Idle [Info 14:00:53.525] All services are started 10.731804s [Debug 14:00:56.509] Loaded IScreensaverManager: Banshee.GnomeBackend.GnomeScreensaverManager [Info 14:00:59.821] nereid Client Started [Debug 14:02:35.910] Service disposed (GStreamerCoreService) [Debug 14:02:35.912] Service disposed (GnomeService) [Debug 14:02:35.992] Service disposed (NotificationAreaService) [Debug 14:02:36.049] Service disposed (AudioCdService) [Debug 14:02:36.053] Service disposed (BookmarksService) [Debug 14:02:36.087] Service disposed (MultimediaKeysService) [Debug 14:02:36.099] Service disposed (NereidPlayerInterface) [Debug 14:02:36.106] Service disposed (HardwareManager) [Debug 14:02:36.120] (libbanshee:player) bp_stop: setting state to GST_STATE_NULL [Debug 14:02:36.135] (libbanshee:player) bp_destroy: disposed player [Debug 14:02:36.136] Service disposed (PlayerEngine) [Debug 14:02:36.227] Service disposed (SourceManager) [Debug 14:02:36.249] Service disposed (DbConnection) I did try to search using the "Filter Results" search bar, and I didn't get any matching results (though I should get it). I didn't seem to notice any output that came when I searched. Should I try to empty my library and then try to "re-import" it? I do remember that when I was importing Banshee got stuck at "420 of 6xx". I ignored it, though I really don't know if that is significant. Thanks!

I don't want to report this as a new bug, but it's getting stuck again. It's at 421 out of 693 and doesn't seem to want to go ahead. Last time I deleted the file that it was getting stuck on. Should I delete this also? I don't know what to do.... Thanks Umang

For the importing problem, I would definitely say to open a new bug; it could be a different cause causing the same behavior. Faris, any update from you?

OK, had another person with this problem in IRC. You can work around it by running this command from a terminal (eg GNOME Terminal): sqlite3 ~/.config/banshee-1/banshee.db "update coreconfiguration set value='0' where key='MetadataVersion'" This will trigger a Metadata Refresh (same as will be triggered when you upgrade from 1.x to 1.4 when it comes out). I want to make sure this doesn't affect users migrating from 0.13.2 to 1.4 before closing this bug, though.
OK, just verified that running trunk w/o a database in ~/.config/banshee-1/banshee.db properly migrates the <= 0.13.2 db and updates the metadata properly.
