Description David Prieto 2008-09-13 10:09:49 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Originally posted at launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/269451

Steps to reproduce:
I'm using Nautilus 2.23.92 on Ubuntu Intrepid. Since little time ago, Nautilus has started ellipsizing long filenames so they will take less space. Hovering the cursor over the file, however, shows the whole name over other files. This, in my opinion, looks weird when you have many files with long names and move the cursor around.

I think the whole name should only be shown when the file is selected, either by clicking it or by using the keyboard.

Does this happen every time?

Not sure I agree as if you're selecting multiple files, you'd have to select/unselect the file just to get the filename instead of just hovering the file.

No plans to change current behavior.
