GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 551016
please be more specific about importing SSH keys in documentation
Last modified: 2009-04-06 20:31:14 UTC
Documentation Section: Section 8 The Seahorse help says: "To import keys choose Key > Import and select, from the file chooser, a file containing at least one ASCII armored public key." Importing SSH keys is not possible anymore and some users are getting confused. It might be worthwhile to be somewhat more explicit about what kind of keys can be imported. Correct version: For example change it to: ""To import PGP keys choose Key > Import and select, from the file chooser, a file containing at least one ASCII armored public PGP key. Importing SSH keys is not possible." Other information: This was reported on Launchpad: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse/+bug/252288

Why didn't you patch directly the source XML file?
cc'ed to developer to ask for content correctness.
I believe importing of SSH keys is possible now. If not, then that would be a bug. In addition there's plans to rework the import stuff in seahorse during 2.27.x development cycle.
Can we get a clarification on this please? I am experiencing this "bug" in 2.26.0-0ubuntu4 currently as I am trying to import a second private SSH key to connect to one of my other servers. Not all my servers use the same Private/Public key pair.
