GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 549620
Not supported calendar message in Outlook
Last modified: 2009-09-02 08:10:58 UTC
Please describe the problem: When I send a meeting request to a user with MS Outlook 2003 the Outlook user only gets a message with an attachment which is called "not supported calendar message.ics". Summary is used as Subject of this mail and Location is printed in the body. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a meeting in Evolution and invite Outlook user. 2. See the result in Outlook Actual results: From Outlook you can see a message with subject "Not supported calendar message" and this email contains an .ics-attachment. Expected results: The user should be able to accept/reject the meeting. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
Created attachment 117475 [details] How it looks from Outlook
Created attachment 117476 [details] The attachment that is seen in the previous attachment
This is also on LP with some additional info, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/240388
As requested already, we need an example message. Please strip any confidential data before attaching it here.
Hello I have already created an attachment with the ics-file. I will create three more attachments. The email saved as .msg (Outlook Message Format) The email saved as .txt All headers of the email I have changed some hostnames/IP-adresses.
Created attachment 117568 [details] Saved as MSG
Created attachment 117569 [details] Headers saved as TXT
Created attachment 117570 [details] File > Save as TXT from Outlook
An observation: If you receive a Calendar message and connect to Exchange 2007 via IMAP, you get a message from Exchange: The message could not be retrieved using the IMAP4 protocol. The message has not been deleted and may be accessible using either Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access. You can also try contacting the original sender of the message to find out about the contents of the message. Retrieval of this message will be retried when the server is updated with a fix that addresses the problem. --- Maybe this is more of an Outlook/Exchange problem than an Evolution problem. However, to make Evolution better, maybe something could be done to work around it.
I sent a meeting request from Evolution 2.24.3. I checked in outlook and it is shown perfectly. I did accept meeting in outlook and checked response in evolution. Could you please confirm if this bug is still happening at your end ? Please try in 2.24.x / 2.26.x and report back, thanks. Again thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed for the version you originally used here. Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE in 6 weeks.
I use 2.26.1-0ubuntu2 now and it works fine. Sent an invite to a colleague with Outlook 2007 and he got the invite OK. He also responded and I could see the reply.
Thanks Thomas for quick reply.
