The openSUSE KDE4 packages use ~/.kde4 as prefix rather than ~/.kde which is
kept for KDE3. It seems that KMailQueryable was adapted to first/additionally
search ~/.kde4 before ~/.kde (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=540153)
but there seem to be more adaptions necessary within KopeteQueryable,
AkregatorQueryable, KOrganizerQueryable, KonqBookmarkQueryable, KNotesQueryable
and KAddressBookQueryable (not KonversationQueryable yet as there will be no
Konversation/KDE4 version available within openSUSE 11.1 time frame).

I am afraid this cannot be handled with such generality. KDE4 versions of some programs might change the format of their data. These need to be fixed case by case. If there is any KDE4 application for which just changing the directory works, then file a bug with that and it will be changed.
