fix Guadalajara
Last modified: 2008-08-25 13:13:20 UTC
Please describe the problem: Originally reported by Andrea Caminiti here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgweather/+bug/260258 "i just installed intrepid alpha 4. so i decided to set my time zone location. and i got a extremely nice suprise! guadalajara, mexico is not avaliable on the locations list! i had no words for this. one of the 3 more important cities of mexico out of the list. i tried looking for it as mexico, guadalajara and nothing. i believe that this applet need a review." Steps to reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information: I can confirm that it exists in ubutnu 8.04 but not in 8.10
OK, since the string was in 2.22 we can bring it back in 2.24 without causing further translation woes. The problem seems to be that the Locations-generating script thought that that weather station (MMGL) wasn't reporting regularly, so it left it out of the list (since there's not much use in having an applet showing you last week's weather). But looking now, it seems like it has reported at least once each of the last three days. Maybe the station coincidentally happened to be down the last time we regenerated Locations.xml.in?
oops, ignore that last comment, I mistyped the station ID when I was looking for it. MMGL is in the file, but there's a typo in the METAR source data, and it lists the city as just "Guadalaj", so the station got assigned to a random small city that's closer to the actual station than Guadalajara itself. This is easy to fix.
