Description nathansamson 2008-08-19 19:01:16 UTC
The gdm configuration manager (gdmsetup) is confusing.

Their are currently 4 available styles=

* Plain
* Plain with face browser
* Themed
* Themed with face browser

When you select one of the 2 Themed styles you see the same list of installed themes. When you have selected themed and selected a theme with a face browser the face browser will not be shown in gdm (which can be confusing).

A better solution would be:
Only showing the themes with a face browser when Themed with face browser is selected, and the themes without a face browser when "Themed" is selected.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use.

By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME.
Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
