GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 548078
link to an existing note
Last modified: 2017-07-31 12:46:01 UTC
Originally sent to launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tomboy/+bug/182365 Let's suppose I'm taking notes on Shakespeare and I create a note called "iambic pentameter" with a definition of it. I like that everytime I type "iambic pentameter" in any note I get a link to the definition, but I would like to get it too if I type "iambic pentameters". I propose including the option to select a stretch of text and link it to a specific note; for example the first time I type "iambic pentameters" I don't get a link, but if I select it and link it to the "iambic pentameter" note, every time I type that text it will become a link to that note.
I can't believe there isn't already a bug for this (I just checked). It is a common request to be able to link to notes (and other objects) in a more explicit way as you suggest. There has been some discussion of it on the mailing list, as well.
Thirded...I couldn't belive I'm not able to do so. Don't think it's really big complicated to code, but it would be a huge improvement.
How would this mapping be stored? Would it be stored in the note containing the links? Something like <link key name=iambic pentameters> <link key value>Linked To Note1</link key value> <link key value>Linked To Note1</link key value> </link key>
