By request, I will add a description of the problem:

I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04.

When I went to rip a music CD of mine to my computer in MP3 format in
Sound Juicer, I was not given the MP3 option in the drop down box in
preferences > output format (where I expected it to be)

There was an MP3 profile available to edit, but I could not select it
from the output format drop down box. I finally did some searching
online and realized I had to install gstreamer0.10 from the repository
to be able to encode MP3 files. After installing this package, Sound
Juicer worked perfectly.

Sound Juicer should make it more obvious that I was missing an encoder,
and that was the reason it wouldn't let me rip in the MP3 format.
Instead, I was given no error message, or a warning or even a hint of
why MP3 was missing from the drop down box. There was no mention of
gstreamer0.10 in the help file either.

New users will surely find this even more confusing that I did, please
make it more user-friendly.

Thanks!
