Description Nick Ellery 2008-08-08 21:34:25 UTC
Originally report here: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/256206

Support to connecting to gadu-gadu accounts should be added to Empathy.
Comment 1 Guillaume Desmottes 2008-08-11 16:40:50 UTC
I guess all we need is a to ship a profile. Would be great if someone who is actually using Gadu-Gadu could write one.
Comment 2 Marcin Kowalczyk 2008-08-11 17:08:53 UTC
I am using Gadu-Gadu but I don’t know what “profile” means in this context (and I don’t know much about Gadu-Gadu internals).

Anyway, Pidgin supports:
• Registering GG accounts
• Sending, receiving & clearing the list of contacts on the server (contacts are normally stored on the client side, with explicit actions to export them)
• Getting information about a user with the given ID
• Searching for a user with the given values of search fields
and there are some GG features that Pidgin does not support, like sending files and VoIP.
Comment 3 Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek 2008-08-16 09:32:32 UTC
qrczak, not Pidgin but libpurple. Empathy already is able to use libpurple (-haze), so it wouldn't be hard.

Forgot sending images. Also, a new feature is avatar support introduced by GG 8.x.

Comment 4 Guillaume Desmottes 2008-09-26 16:52:55 UTC
Empathy 2.24 now has a profile for Gadu-Gadu. Closing this bug.
Comment 5 Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek 2008-09-26 17:04:23 UTC
Guillaume, is profile equal to real support of protocol?
Comment 6 Guillaume Desmottes 2008-09-26 17:15:56 UTC
Jakub: profile means Empathy can establish Gadu-Gadu connections using telepathy-haze.

If you have problems or miss features then you should open a new bug on Empathy and/or Haze for each one.
