Description Murray Cumming 2008-08-04 09:38:11 UTC
Empathy uses the default "telepathy" name for it's jabber
"resource". I believe this is generally set by the user (and is user-visible
from contacts' IM clients) to things like "office", "home", etc.

But using the default makes it very likely that it will clash with another
client on another computer, such as Nokia's IM client, which also makes this mistake. (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3539)

The result is frequent connection errors, and contacts' seeing you log in and out
every few seconds.

I suggest that you use "Empathy" as the default jabber resource name.

Hello Murray; I am marking this one as a duplicate of bug 481139; which is about using a unique name as resource.
