I frequently switch on my external hard disk to copy a few files, and I would
like to unmount it afterwards. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Beagle
is accessing the device. I would strongly recommend to implement a behavior
where umounting has a higher priority than Beagle doing its indexing stuff.

[...]

I've expicitely told Beagle to index my external hard disk. Still, I would like
it to stop its activity as soon as I want to unmount it, and that is not
possible because Beagle is blocking the disk.

Beagle 0.3.8 contains a new tool to index removable hard-disks. See http://www.mail-archive.com/dashboard-hackers@gnome.org/msg04465.html

Indexing removable medium is not recommended with earlier versions for exactly the problem described in the bug.
