Description Eugen Dedu 2008-07-27 19:20:38 UTC
Hi,

Building the DC IEEE 1394 plugin in ptlib is and will be broken in debian.
Opal depends on libavcodec-dev, which depends, since a few days in unstable, on v2 of dc ieee1394 library (libdc1394-22-dev). But ptlib does not work with v2 of dc library only with v1. So for the moment the dc ptlib plugin package in debian is empty (no plugin inside).
Comment 1 Matthias Schneider 2008-07-28 17:26:52 UTC
OPAL should not depend on libavcodec. Also, libavcodec on debian is totally unuseful since it does not feature any interesting encoder. Probably opal-h263+ and opal-mpeg4 should depend on libavcodec from the debian multimedia (if it supports H.263 and MPEG 4 ENcoders)
Comment 2 Snark 2008-07-28 18:26:52 UTC
I think opal depending on any libavcodec has nothing to do with the DC plugin, as the DC plugin is in ptlib :-)
Comment 3 Eugen Dedu 2008-07-29 09:36:20 UTC
Ok, libavcodec will be removed from debian packaging.

Changing this bug to enhancement (wishlist), since sometime in the future it will become a problem for packagers (other than debian).
