GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 544935
Gnumeric shows vertical-aligned x-axis text as horizontal in .xls files
Last modified: 2008-07-28 12:20:58 UTC
Please describe the problem: It would seems that Gnumeric can't remember the orientation of x-axis text if the file type is .xls Steps to reproduce: 1. make a chart 2. apply to x-axis text 90 degrees orientation 3. save as .xls 4. close and open with Gnumeric Actual results: The text orientation changes to 0 (zero) degrees Expected results: The text orientation would be 90 degrees Does this happen every time? yes Other information: For .xlsx files see Bug 544933
please supply a sample file and specify the exact version of gnumeric.
Created attachment 115412 [details] a file which does not export correctly to .xls Things seem worse than that. Attached file also looses the series data, apparently.
The text orientation serialization was never implemented for xls format. The fix is not difficult, just the options are so different between xl and gnumeric. Seems that the series data issue is an export issue, since OOocalc does not find them either.
Created attachment 115418 [details] [review] proposed patch I broke chart export when fixing 519788. All versions released since then are affected. Seems we need a new 1.8.x release. Sorry.
Fixed in both branches.
