GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 544005
Automatic Entry Into MusicBrainz?
Last modified: 2014-03-24 16:38:45 UTC
I wonder -- could there be a way that Sound Juicer could be made to interface with MusicBrainz a little bit more seamlessly. I find that, even though I want to enter data into MusicBrainz, I often don't, because it just seems like so much trouble to do so. I wish there was a way to enter the data IN Sound Juicer, and then say "submit track names", and have Sound Juicer communicate with Music Brainz for me, instead of just sending me to the website. It doesn't look like Music Brainz has a web service for submission, so I'll go suggest that on their mailing list. Other information:
As you say, MB doesn't really support this for now. There is a remote submit method but it's undocumented as far as I can tell, and you need a musicbrainz account.
Requiring a musicbrainz account, as long as you could log in from within sound-juicer. Still, musicbrainz remote submit method is where the real action is here.
I discovered that Musicbrainz supports "CDStubs", which are a half-way between no data and a full on submission. http://musicbrainz.org/doc/XMLWebService#head-43278e4199c45fa4f1b75972a796ee13ad0b7e5e
A possible way to implement this using CD stubs is described in ticket #537441
