GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 542941
problem playing tv channels at www.iran.tv
Last modified: 2010-04-18 22:13:58 UTC
Please describe the problem: hi, I have problems playing video channels at www.iran.tv website. I suspect it is a playlist parsing problem. Basically what happens when playing it in windows is that an ad is played before the main stream is opened. In totem, there are two different scenarios depending on which channel is chosen. Scenrio 1: accessing http://www.iran.tv/jamejam2.htm causes the ad to be played but totem fails at opening the main stream Scenario 2: accessing http://www.iran.tv/tapesh.htm neither the ad nor the main stream is opened. I am not a technical person on this issue but suspect that there might be non-standard features used. Having totem follow the same behavior as WMP makes a lot of sites designed for windows media work in linux too. Steps to reproduce: Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? yes Other information: I am using the latest update of totem 2.22.1 and gnome 2.22.3 on Ubuntu 8.04
There's no playlists used in those streams, they point to MMS streams directly. Either mmssrc or asfdemux can't handle the stream though. ** Message: Error: Could not demultiplex stream. gstasfdemux.c(3642): gst_asf_demux_process_segment (): /play/decodebin0/asfdemux0: payload has 130 bytes of replicated data, but size is only 3
I am not quite sure but I have Fluendo's windows media plugin for gstreamer installed. So the error you pointed out may be due to lack of a plugin for windows media. However, if I've got your point right and there is no play list, then there is no reason why totem stops on the advertisement and fails to play the main stream.
Plays fine here with all modules about to be released. Could you try again with updated gstreamer + plugins ?
