Description roddefig 2008-07-09 03:01:15 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I have an accounts receivable account to keep track of deposits that I pay for rental houses. Recently, I had a deposit refunded minus one week of unpaid rent. I entered the transaction in the deposits account as a split transaction with one week of rent being paid to the rent expense account and the remainder being paid to my checking account. The transaction was recorded properly in my checking account but not in my rent account. In the rent account, the transaction appeared but with no values.

I should add that this is a multiple currencies situation. The deposits and checking account is in AUD, while the rent expense account is in USD. I'm not sure whether the problem is related to this or not. I've had plenty of other transactions in both currencies that worked fine (including split transactions).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Let's assume rent is $100/week AUD and the deposit is four weeks rent. Initially, the deposits account has $400 AUD.
2. I receive a refund of the deposit minus one weeks rent in my checking account. I enter the transaction as a split in the deposits account, with $100 AUD as an invoice to the rent expense account, $300 AUD as an invoice to the checking account, and $400 AUD as a payment to the deposits account.

Actual results:
I do not get the usual dialog to verify the currency conversion. The transaction appears appropriately in the checking account. However, in the rent account a blank transaction appears. It has the proper date, description, and accounts, but no amounts.

Expected results:
I would expect $100 AUD to be converted to USD and added to the rent account.

Does this happen every time?
Yes, I deleted the transaction and re-entered it to the same effect.

I did a little more experimenting after I filed this bug and I realized the amounts did not propogate because I had the price editor open. After I closed the price editor the transaction appeared correctly. I'm not sure whether this is how this is supposed to work or not. But, I think there should be a warning at least.
