GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 540685
EXIF data in fullscreen mode
Last modified: 2012-07-31 19:33:51 UTC
would be nice, to have a special 'exif data fullscreen mode' which allows you to show specific exif data overlayed in a corner of the fullscreen. Reason behind that: for getting to know your camera/choosing pictures it would help.
+1 There is no possibility to see EXIF information in F11 mode right now. That is a drawback for photographers using eog. I suggest to implement something similar to gthumbs. Proposal for a use case: When the user presses "i" in F11 mode, a small semi-transparent box with two lines of text appears (and stays with subsequent photos) showing image information. In preferences, the user can select how much/which information should be shown: 1 or 2 lines. Pressing "i" again switches off the info box. Example: (1st line) P416724.jpg - (13/437) - 2736x3648 pixels - 3.2MB (2nd,optional) f/5.6 - 1/250s - 85mm - ISO 100 - 05.07.2008 17:13 That would be the default information shown. The first line for people only interested in the photos, when they were made, etc. The second line for interested photographers to see/learn under which conditions a photo was taken. Of course, this could also be made customizable and users select their own set of EXIF tags, but IMHO it is not needed in this first step. Thanks for considering this! Marcus
+1 I agree. It would be very nice for non pro advanced photographers.
Well, currently, you can see the exif and other stuff by going into the image properties dialog (alt+enter, or right-click>properties, or file menu); and you can have this dialog while you're in fullscreen, it shows on top of the image. The only problem is that it resets the state of the listview at each image (bug #632758). Unless you folks really want a custom interface for fullscreen?
In eog 3.4.2-1, go to fullscreen mode (F11) and then hit the "show side pane" keybinding (Ctrl+F9), image metadata is displayed in the side pane, on fullscreen.
